Nifty
opens below 12,200, Sensex down 200 pts; Kotak Bank, Tata Steel drag
Asian shares were mixed after the
International Monetary Fund cut its global growth forecasts, primarily due to a
sharp slowdown in India and other emerging markets.
Market
Opens: Sensex is down 221.90 points or 0.53 percent
at 41307.01 while the Nifty shed 58.30 points or 0.48 percent at 12166.20.
Bharti Infratel and Zee Entertainment are the top gainers while Reliance
Industries,Kotak Mahindra Bank and State Bank of India are the most active
stocks.
SGX
Nifty update: The SGX Nifty indicates a negative
start for the Indian market. Around 07:45 hours IST, Nifty futures was 60.50
points, or 0.49 percent, down at 12,212.

Rupee
Opens: The rupee opened at 71.18 per dollar on
January 21, lower by 8 paise against the previous day's close of 71.10 on some
buying of the greenback by banks and importers.
