At 09:16 hrs IST, the Sensex is down 2,624.69 points or 8.77% at 27291.27, and the Nifty down 757.05 points or 8.66% at 7988.40. About 90 shares have advanced, 860 shares declined, and 42 shares are unchanged.

Rupee Opens: The Indian rupee opened at record low level at 75.69 on Monday versus Friday's close of 75.19.

Sensex, Nifty flat amid volatility; pharma, FMCG stocks in focus

Except Nifty Bank, other sectoral indices are trading in the green, with pharma gains over 3 percent followed by metal, IT, infra, auto and FMCG.

Market Update: After a positive start in the volatile trade the benchmark indices erased all the gains with nifty trading at day's low level.

The Sensex is down 226.12 points or 0.80% at 28062.11, and the Nifty down 47.70 points or 0.58% at 8215.75. About 795 shares have advanced, 599 shares declined, and 59 shares are unchanged.

Power Grid, Gail, ONGC, Vedanta, JSW Steel, Tata Steel , ITC Dr Reddy's Lab and Bharti Airtel are among major gainers on the Indices, while losers are HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank.

Rupee Opens: The Indian rupee opened higher by 21 paise at 74.77 per dollar on Friday versus Thursday's close 74.98.

Market Opens: It is another weak start for the Indian indices on March 19 with Nifty breaches 8,000 for the first time since December 27, 2016.

At 09:16 hrs IST, the Sensex is down 1,755.52 points or 6.08% at 27113.99, and the Nifty down 521.25 points or 6.15% at 7947.55. About 117 shares have advanced, 714 shares declined, and 29 shares are unchanged.

The US markets ended lower by 4-6 percent in the Wednesday's session. Dow Future Index down 723 points or 3.63 percent at 19,108 level. 

Rupee opens at record low​: The Indian rupee opened at record low of 74.95 per dollar on Thursday, down 69 paise against previous close 74.26.
