Stock Market Opening Bell & Market Update for 27-09-2018


Market Live: Sensex up 150 points, Nifty around 11,100 in pre-opening

In a policy statement that marked the end of the era of "accommodative" monetary policy, Fed policymakers lifted the benchmark overnight lending rate by a quarter of a percentage point to a range of 2.0-2.25 percent.

Market Opens Equity benchmarks gave up gains within the first minute of trade and were flat. The Nifty hovered around 11,050-mark, while the Sensex was trading around 36,500-mark.
  
Investors are reacting to developments around customs duty hike that the government announced late on Wednesday. 

Among sectors, banks are trading in the red, while IT and pharmaceuticals are trading higher. The Nifty Midcap index is down quarter of a percent. 

At 09:17 hrs IST, the Sensex is down 15.4 points or 0.04% at 36526.8, while the Nifty is down 10.3 points or 0.09% at 11043.5. The market breadth is negative as 377 shares advanced, against a decline of 416 shares, while 40 shares were unchanged.

Asian Paints, Tata Motors, GAIL and Titan are the top gainers, while HDFC, Bharti Airtel, and M&M have lost the most.

Stock Market Opening Bell & Market Update for 26-09-2018


Sensex opens over 200 points, Nifty surpasses 11,100; IT stocks fall

It’s a strong start to the market on Wednesday morning, with the Nifty surpassing 11,100-mark. The Sensex traded higher by over 200 points. 

The Sensex is up 222.59 points or 0.61% at 36874.65, while the Nifty is higher by 67.50 points or 0.61% at 11135.00. The market breadth is positive as 432 shares advanced, against a decline of 98 shares, while 27 shares were unchanged.

All sectoral indices are trading in the green, with gains seen among banks, auto, FMCG, and metal names, among others. The midcap index is also trading higher by a percent.

The Indian rupee opened flat at 72.70 per dollar versus previous close 72.69.

Stock Market Opening Bell & Market Update for 25-09-2018


Market Live: Nifty trades lower, Sensex sees a flat start; OMCs under pressure as crude touches $81/bbl mark


It is a negative start to the market on Tuesday, with the Nifty beginning 14 points lower around 10,950-mark. The Sensex is trading flat.

The Sensex is down 6.16 points or 0.02% at 36298.86, and the Nifty down 14.00 points or 0.13% at 10953.40. The market breadth is narrow as 300 shares advanced, against a decline of 227 shares, while 49 shares are unchanged.

Among sectors, banking names have taken a hit, along with automobiles and metal names. Pharmaceuticals are trading in the green, while IT names are trading flat, amid a weak rupee.

HDFC and Yes Bank are the top gainers, while Power Grid, ICICI Bank, Indiabulls Housing and Bajaj Finance have lost the most. 

The Indian rupee slipped in the early trade on Tuesday. It opened lower by 26 paise at 72.89 per dollar versus previous close 72.63.

Stock Market Opening Bell & Market Update for 21-09-2018


Market Live: Strong start on D-Street, Sensex surges 200 points, Nifty reclaims 11,300; Yes Bank tanks 30%
 
It’s a good start to the market on this Friday morning as benchmark indices have begun on a good note. Positive global cues and a stronger start to the rupee is aiding sentiment on D-Street. The Nifty reclaimed 11,300 in the opening minutes.

The Sensex is up 171.63 points or 0.46% at 37292.85, while the Nifty is higher by 69.20 points or 0.62% at 11303.60. The market breadth is positive as 461 shares advanced, against a decline of 129 shares, while 61 shares were unchanged.

Barring information technology names, all sectoral indices are trading in the green, with maximum gains visible in banks, auto, metals, pharma, and energy names. In the midcaps space, steel stocks are performing well. Overall, the Nifty Midcap index is trading higher by a percent.

Among stocks, shares of Yes Bank has fallen 15 percent following current MD & CEO Rana Kapoor’s term being cut short. Jet Airways is lower by 6 percent on the back of IT surveys at its premises.

The Indian rupee gained in the early trade on Friday. It has opened higher by 52 paise at 71.85 per dollar versus 72.37 Wednesday.

Stock Market Opening Bell & Market Update for 19-09-2018


Positive start on D-Street, Nifty above 11,300, Sensex up 100 points; Titan down 4%

It is a positive start on the Dalal Steet with Nifty trading above 11,300.

The Sensex is up 94.73 points at 37,385.40, while Nifty is up 35 points at 11313.90. About 669 shares have advanced, 266 shares declined, and 41 shares are unchanged.

Coal India, Tata Steel, Yes Bank, Tata Motors, Eicher Motors, Dr Reddy's Lab are trading higher, while HDFC Bank, HDFC are trading lower. Midcap has outperform with a 0.5 percent gain

All the sectoral indices are trading in green with metal and pharma outperform with over 1 percent gain.

The Indian rupee opened higher by 27 paise at 72.71 per dollar on Wednesday  versus previous close 72.98.

Stock Market Opening Bell & Market Update for 18-09-2018


Market Live: Flat start on D-Street! PSU banks' reaction mixed to merger announcement
 The benchmark indices opened on flat note on Tuesday amid no major development in the global markets.

Pharma, metal, energy stocks are providing some support to the indices, while PSU banks are down 0.7 percent in the early trade.

The Sensex is down 22.96 points or 0.06% at 37562.55, and the Nifty down 1.90 points or 0.02% at 11375.90.

Bank of Baroda was down 10 percent, while Dena Bank gained 20 percent.

Rupee opened marginally lower at 72.55 against previous close of 72.51.
