Nifty
opens below 8K for the first time since Dec 27, 2016; Sensex falls 1,800 pts
All the sectoral indices are trading in
the red. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices fell over 5 percent each.
Market
Opens: It is another weak start for the Indian
indices on March 19 with Nifty breaches 8,000 for the first time since December
27, 2016.
At 09:16 hrs IST, the Sensex is down
1,755.52 points or 6.08% at 27113.99, and the Nifty down 521.25 points or 6.15%
at 7947.55. About 117 shares have advanced, 714 shares declined, and 29 shares
are unchanged.
The US markets ended lower by 4-6
percent in the Wednesday's session. Dow Future Index down 723 points or 3.63
percent at 19,108 level.
Rupee
opens at record low: The Indian rupee opened at
record low of 74.95 per dollar on Thursday, down 69 paise against previous
close 74.26.
