Nifty
above 11,800, Sensex up 100 pts; Bharti Airtel, L&T top gainers
Market
update: After kissing 40,100 in opening trade,
market benchmark Sensex cooled off slightly. Around 09:25 hours IST, the
30-share pack was 125 points, or 0.31 percent, up at 39,956, with 19 stocks in
the green. Bharti Airtel, Infosys and L&T were among the top gainers while
Tata Motors, ONGC and Mahindra & Mahindra were among the top losers in the
Sensex kitty.
The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices were
0.52 percent and 0.36 percent up, respectively, around that time.
Among the sectoral indices, BSE Auto and
Metal were in the red. BSE Telecom and Capital Goods rose up to 2 percent.
Rupee
update: The Indian rupee opened lower by 6 paise at
70.90 per dollar on Wednesday versus previous close 70.84.
