Nifty
near 11,900, Sensex inching towards record high; PSU banks in focus

Opens: It is strong start for the Indian indices on
October 31 with Nifty hovering around 11,900 and Sensex is inching towards its
record high level.
The Sensex is up 168.95 points or 0.42%
at 40220.82, and the Nifty up 47.40 points or 0.40% at 11891.50. About 555
shares have advanced, 145 shares declined, and 24 shares are unchanged.
Quess Corp, JK Tyre, HDFC Bank, United
Bank of India, SBI, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Infosys, ICICI Bank, Sun Pharma,
M&M, JSW Steel and Hindalco, are among major gainers on the indices, while
losers are Tata Motors, Yes Bank and Eicher Motors.
All the sectoral indices are trading in
the green led by PSU bank, IT, metal, energy and FMCG.
Rupee
Opens: The Indian rupee gained in the early trade
on Thursday. It opened higher by 12 paise at 70.77 per dollar versus
Wednesday's close 70.89.
