Sensex opens 100
points higher, Nifty above 10,700; Yes Bank down 1.5%
Market opens: Equity
benchmarks have begun the day on a strong note, with the Nifty surpassing
10,700.
Among sectors, automobiles, energy, and IT names are in the green, while
the Nifty Midcap is higher by quarter of a percent.
The Sensex is up 101.09 points or 0.28% at 35614.23, while the Nifty is
higher by 23.90 points or 0.22% at 10709.50. The market breadth is positive as
295 shares advanced, against a decline of 100 shares, while 26 shares were
unchanged.
Vedanta, Bharti Airtel, and Tech Mahindra are top gainers, while Yes
Bank, Sun Pharma and Titan have lost the most.
Rupee Opens: The Indian rupee opened
lower by 12 paise at 70.88 per dollar on Wednesday versus previous
close 70.76.
