Market Opens: It is a positive start for the Indian indices on August 30 with Nifty around 11,000 level.

At 09:16 hrs IST, the Sensex is up 173.59 points or 0.47% at 37242.52, and the Nifty up 48.50 points or 0.44% at 10996.80. About 364 shares have advanced, 146 shares declined, and 22 shares are unchanged. 

JSW Steel, Vedanta, Tata Motors, Indiabulls Housing, Adani Green Gruh Finance, Power Grid, Yes Bank, Bajaj Finserv, Hero Moto, ITC are among major gainers on the indices in the early trade, while losers are Bharti Infratel, HCL Tech, Coal India, Cipla, BPCL and Sun Pharma.

Sensex, Nifty open lower after 3-day rally; Tata Motors, Maruti fall

Market Update-

Benchmark indices started consolidating at around 11,100 on the Nifty and the formation of Doji candle also indicated indecisiveness among bulls and bears.

The BSE Sensex was down 4.14 points at 37,637.13 and the Nifty rose 9 points to 11,114.40.

The market breadth remained in favour of bulls as about 729 shares advanced against 417 declining shares on the BSE.

The sectoral trend was mixed with Pharma and IT rising more than half a percent. Banks and Auto fell marginally on profit booking.

Government to Get Big Amount from RBI

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will transfer a surplus of Rs 1.76 lakh crore to the government as it has approved the recommendations of Bimal Jalan committee at the central board meet held in Mumbai on August 26.

The transfer sum comprises of Rs 1.23 lakh crore of surplus for the financial year 2018-19 and Rs 52,637 crore of excess provisions identified under the revised Economic Capital Framework (ECF) that was adopted at the central board meet.
