Markets ended in red, but Nifty is able
to hold 8150 on the first trading day on New Year. The Sensex was down 31.01
points at 26595.45, and the Nifty was down 6.30 points at 8179.50.
BSE realty index has gained more than 4
percent. Also, BSE auto and metal index also rose nearly 2 percent, while Bank
Nifty has slipped over 200 points.
Tata Steel, M&M, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki,
Adani Ports, Ambuja Cements, UltraTech Cement and Eicher Motors were top
gainers while HDFC, SBI, Bajaj Auto, ICICI Bank, Infosys and Bank of Baroda
were top losers on the indices.
